Yes, it’s snowing again here. We’ll have about another 15″ or so. ‘Nuff said.
So I’ve decided to channel warmer weather by writing about an ice cream/sweet shop. It’s one of my favorite places in the Front Range area – Scrumptious, in Olde Town Arvada, which is about a quick 15-20 minute drive from where I live.
This place is especially wonderful on a hot summer day, when I’ve literally sweated off a pound, only to put it back on – and then some – with a single scoop of their creamy-rich concoctions. Actually, the single scoop is more like two regular scoops mashed together, which is how they can get away with calling it a “single.”
Ice cream flavors change every week, but they do have a running list of flavors they make. As the website says, if they don’t have what you want, ask them to create it and it might be on their menu the next time you visit.
But what’s really cool about Scrumptious is one of the biggest selections of candy I’ve ever seen. Take a look:
Spider Pig guards the sidewalk right outside the shop.
The place is definitely not lacking in kitschy stuff:
But there is plenty of candy that you can just enjoy, too:
And then there’s ice cream… the best in Denver! But I really didn’t have my own this time. I had to help JRS and NLS finish theirs – orange creamsicle and chocolate mint chip. Sorry, but pictures of those didn’t turn out
If you come to Denver, make the trip to Olde Towne. This place is totally worth the drive!
