This is me, Janice. I’m a freelance copywriter, consultant, travel writer and photographer…and recovering school psychologist.
I could say that I’m a newbie copywriter, but I’m not really. I first started this particular journey back in 2003, when I was looking for a way to work from home while I took care of my two young daughters. Perhaps it was that monumental responsibility, a move to another state, a divorce and other life challenges that made me give up being a copywriter two years later.
Then I tried again in 2009. LIke the other time, I tried to work in direct response – the kind where you write long sales letters. But I realized that wasn’t for me, and I thought just writing about places we went on vacation and taking pictures was. So I gave up the copywriting for the second time.
I started my freelance travel writing and photography the next year with Janice Schultze Writing and Photography. So far, I’ve had some success. I am the Denver Romance Travel Examiner for Examiner.com, and have stock photos for sale on Bigstock, Fotolia and Dreamstime.
Now I’m back to give copywriting a go again. I figure third time’s a charm. That, and losing my job as an educator for the past 20 years.
But I think that was the impetus I needed to really make this work. The other two times I tried to succeed at copywriting, there was always this thought in the back of my head, “I have my day job to fall back on.”
Well, not anymore. But that’s what needed to happen to really jumpstart my copywriting.
So for now, I do have my website, Schultze Copywriting, and I am open for business.
My aim is to write about my freelancer experiences, but to also find great content to share with anyone who has the same objective as I do – become a very successful freelancer in travel, tourism and hospitality, personal development and self-help, and educational B2B.
