After attending the copywriting seminar in Delray Beach, I headed down to Miami Beach with RAS, where I went for a run along the shore while he watched the surfers on the higher than normal tide.
I mentioned the interesting odyssey with the drinks we had at the Cardozo (which is just a little past this typical Art Deco structure) in my previous post. Less said about that, the better.
There were also these drinks that seemed to be particularly popular with the tourists. Basically, they were mixed drinks with a whole bottle of Corona dumped in, bottle intact and hanging over the sides.
To me, they just looked gross (and that was before I had my swim in the mojito pool). Apologies for the blurry quality of the picture:
Yes, there are beautiful people here, just like you would imagine. But I was more interested in seeing things I normally wouldn’t, like this cool vintage Chevy, with Cuban license plates:
As overpriced and touristy as Miami Beach was, I just wish we had a little more time to spend down there. I’m sure we could’ve found the pockets that were more appealing to us, and not the wall-to-wall-to-wall bar/hotels, which were ultimately fun for people watching. But honestly, I don’t want to be soaked twice in places I visit – once of the drinks, and another for the lodging.
