Just something short and simple today. It’s the second year in a row that my favorite NFL team, the San Francisco 49ers, has made it to the NFC Championship, this time against the “dirty bird” Atlanta Falcons.
And I’m hoping for the first time in 18 years, they’ll make it to the Super Bowl. It doesn’t matter if they play the Ravens or the Patriots. I just want to see them at the big dance in New Orleans…and win it.
I learned to be a Niner fan from my late dad, who followed them when they were part of the ancient All-America Football Conference back in the 1940’s. They played at Kezar Stadium, where he once told me you needed an umbrella even if it wasn’t raining, because of all the seagulls bombing the stands during the games.
The Niners have won in all five of their five Super Bowl visits, and luckily while my dad was still around.
This one’s for you, Dad!
