For the last few years, more people are coming to our little foothills town and go tubing down Clear Creek. Once the sole activity of the School of Mines college student, now everyone comes to downtown Golden when the temps hit the 90s to 100s to cool off.
That’s what RAS and NLS did last weekend, although my daughter got a little scared from her adventure.
Here they are going down a mini-rapid, and apparently she believed my husband let her go downriver alone. This dereliction of parental duty was a sore spot for her.
Although when they got out a few minutes later, she didn’t seem too upset. To wit…
Clear Creek was pretty low, so she really wasn’t in any danger. That’s characteristic of many of the rivers and creeks around the state, since we had a very poor snowfall over winter and now hardly any runoff and low-flowing rivers as a result. It’s part of the problem we’ve had with the wildfires of late, but we are still a pretty great place to be.
